“A City of Broken Glass” is nominated for the Bruce Alexander Historical Mystery Award. The winner will be chosen at the Left Coast Crime Conference in Colorado Springs in March 2013. I’ve honored to be among such an illustrious group of writers and books: Rhys Bowen, The Twelve Clues of Christmas;  Dennis Lehane, Live by Night; Catriona McPherson, Dandy Gilver and an Unsuitable Day for a Murder; and Jacqueline Winspear.

For the first time in five years, I won’t be attending. Left Coast Crime was the first conference I attended as an almost published author, when it was just down the street from my house in Waikoloa. I had a wonderful time, met people who would become my friends and follow me on my writer’s journey, and started to think that maybe I was a writer after all.

I wish everyone at Left Coast Crime a wonderful time!

  1. Ah. Rebecca! I am already in the happy state of being able to say “I knew her when…” Congrats and best wishes

  2. When is your next book about Hanna and Lars etc. coming out .I have read all 4 and am hooked- is WWII the next setting for them?

    • Thanks! I don’t have a firm date on Hanah Vogel 5, but I do have a title: A Time of Night and Fog and also an outline. Hannah and Lars will be in Palestine, to where they are smuggling Jewish children, when Lars is arrested. When Hannah goes to get him out of jail, she finds that he’s already confessed and refuses to speak to her and she has to try to clear his name against his will against the backdrop of wartime Tel Aviv.

  3. I read the first “Hannah” and quickly bought the second and third. I was sad when I had finished the 3rd and then found that a 4th existed!
That was quickly read and now I am waiting for the 5th.
I love the Hannah and Lars series. I was so afraid that he would be killed off and you cannot do that!
    They are divine together.
I really love your story telling. I feel as if I am right behind the characters and in each exciting adventure. I just never know where the next page is going and I am always surprised.
I will purchase anything you have authored. You are my favorite author.
Thanks for all the enjoyment I have from your books.

    • Thank you very much for your kind words! I’m happy to hear that you like the Hannah Vogel books so!

I’m just about to start work on a short story (which may grow to a novella) about the further adventures of Hannah and Lars. Stay tuned here or sign up for my newsletter to find out when it comes out.

      Thanks again!

  4. Loved Hannah Vogel books! it was as if I was there with her! but read the books so fast to make sure she would be safe, that I thought I missed something and now I am rereading them and savoring them! and recommending to everyone I talk to,so glad to see there will be a 5th and?
Also love the books with James Rollins! He is one of my favorite authors as you now are!
Thank you for giving us readers so many hours of enjoyment!

    • Thank you! I’m working on a Hannah Vogel short story right now set in London in the early 1940s, and have ideas for a novel after that, but it might be a while coming. On the bright side, I do have another book with James Rollins, Innocent Blood, coming out in less than a month (December 10) and a new thriller series of my own set in the New York City subways that comes out at the end of this month (November 30) called The World Beneath. So, hopefully that will help. 🙂
